On Monday, October 29, Google released their latest devices, including the new line of Nexus smartphones. One great device released was the larger version of the Nexus 7 that started selling in July. Will you sell iPad for this new tablet computer?
The new line of Nexus smartphones is made by LG Electronics. It has also minor updates from the Android operating system which currently powers up to 500 million devices around the world. Another upgrade is coming next year.
On the other hand, the large Nexus tablet computer is made by Samsung Electronics and it has a display screen of about 10 inches diagonally.
Google released their own larger tablet computer a week after Apple released their smaller tablet computer which is less expensive than the standard iPad. The iPad Mini has a 7.9-inch display and will compete against the Google Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire. This smaller iPad will be released to the public on Friday.
Pundits are still questioning whether or not consumers will want the iPad Mini since $329 is too expensive for a tablet with 16 GB. It seems that the Nexus 7 will still take over the market for smaller tablet computers, since it is available for only $199. The Kindle Fire, however, is cheaper since its starting price is $159.
Meanwhile, the new Nexus 10 tablet computer will sell for $399 if you want the 16 GB of storage. Comparing it to the latest iPad, that's about $100 less but the iPad 2 is still available for $399. This new tablet from Google will be available in their online store on November 13.
The Nexus 4 smartphones have about 4.7-inch screens. This makes them larger than the iPhone 5 and smaller than the Galaxy S III. The 16 GB model Nexus 4 is available for $199. There is also a two-year contract attached to it to buy phone service and Internet access from T-Mobile. For a contract-free phone, you have to pay $299. This phone has 8 GB of storage. Navigating it's crisp menu with fluent smooth strokes of the finger, as screens transition like butter - because of a feature that allows it to do so. Swiping, pinching, throwing, dragging, is all smooth as butter. No lag as you flow screen by screen at the speed of light.
The first versions were available in 8GB and 16GB, which isn't much. But now a 32GB and 64GB version are available - which is real nice considering this device is Wi-Fi only - so you will be downloading many things. You will want that space.
The tablet features a SUPER fast Tegra-3 processor - dual core. Can you believe that? Some peoples computers don't even have a dual core processor! This is lightning fast tech in a 7" hand sized screen - for less than $200. It's crazy.
Since it is by Google - it is loaded with tons of Google services, which all luckily are really good. GMAIL, Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google music, etc. Any Google Web app you have ever used, is in a handy dandy really smooth Android App version as well. You better believe that for the Google fanatic who uses every service, you can sync up and get locked in just like you would from your PC. This is what makes this tablet so darn cool.
It's a slick experience and all of this on smaller 7" screen with super crisp HD. You really can't go wrong with this tablet - it is THE BEST 7" on the market, if not the best tablet period.

Various retailers said they had trouble meeting demand for the larger-capacity Nexus 7 nearly from the start of sales.
Gabe Donnini, a data solutions engineer for Chitika Insights, said Google's restock of the 16 GB version didn't come as a surprise. Chitika runs an online advertising network and has been providing monthly measurements of Web usage with various tablet computers in North America.
Chitika found that when the Nexus 7 was released, the tablet "experienced a jump in [Web] usage that has not been seen outside of the iPad."
The Nexus 7 is Google's first foray into selling a tablet under its own brand. It's currently available for pre-order from Google Play, the company's online store, with customer deliveries expected to begin next week. It costs $199 for a model with eight gigabytes of storage, same as the Kindle, or $249 for 16 gigabytes.
The device is manufactured by Taiwan-based Asustek, and Google chose its partner wisely. Asus makes some of the prettiest tablets and personal computers this side of Apple, and the Nexus 7 is as attractive and smooth as the Kindle Fire is chunky and clunky.
At 7.8 inches tall and 4.7 inches wide, the Nexus 7 is compact enough to slide into a jacket pocket. A rubbery, textured back makes it easy to grip. Like the Kindle Fire, it works only over a Wi-Fi connection; while the screens are the same size, the Nexus 7's has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, compared to the Kindle Fire's 1024 x 600.
Google pretty clearly seems to be going after Amazon with the way it's structured the out-of-the-box Nexus 7 experience. The tablet comes with a full-screen interactive view of your "library" content on its main home screen; touching the widget brings up all of your book, movie, TV, and magazine purchases.
One screen over, you have widgets showing recommended media content and applications in the Google Play Store, based on both your own friends' pluses (assuming you use Google Plus) and what's popular with "similar users."
Look, for all its drawbacks, where Amazon succeeded with its Kindle Fire was in making the device dead-simple to use: Anyone, whether geek or technophobe, could pick up the product and figure out how to view and buy content at a second's glance. The Nexus 7 accomplishes the same kind of goal.
Here's the difference, though: Amazon created a locked-down ecosystem built around its e-commerce goals. Google made e-commerce a core part of the default Nexus 7 setup -- but it's a part you can just as easily move beyond.

Among all the other tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Tab has the largest share, followed in order by the Acer Iconia, the Barnes & Noble Nook, the Toshiba Thrive, the Asus Transformer, the BlackBerry PlayBook, Amazon's Kindle Fire, the Motorola Xoom, and then the Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 accounted for 0.33% of the Web usage by non-iPad tablets during the week of July 16 to 22, Chitika said.
"I'd look for the Nexus 7 to establish a leading presence among Android-powered tablets by the end of 2012," Donnini added in an email.
