Posted by Unknown Kamis, 03 Januari 2013 0 komentar
Google recently launched its new tablet The Nexus 10. It is a 10.1 -inch tablet that is said to be different in relation to its design including factors like processor and battery. The Nexus comes in 16GB ($399) and 32GB ($499) of storage forms. Apart from this let us find out how the Nexus 10 is different and what all it contains.
Design and Form
When it comes to defining the design of Nexus 10 it may seem similar to that of Samsung tab.
The overall design consists of a plastic like finish that makes it look more like a utility product. This is what makes it stand apart from other tablets that are sleeker and have a metal like finishing. Nevertheless, the maximum pricing of this tablet is $499 (32GB) which is comparatively still better than iPad that offers only 16GB at the same cost. Other things like the casing of this tablet is rubber like that makes it easier to grip and cushion the device nicely. Weighing 1.3 lb. the Nexus 10 measures 0.35-inches in thickness; it is light and comparatively sleeker than the one offered by Apple 1.44 lb. (0.37 in). The best feature of Nexus is the striking display (2560-x-1600-pixel) and a 10.1-inch screen with 300PPI, all these features combined together makes it the highest resolution tab available. However, comparing its resolution to iPad with 264ppi and a resolution of 2048 x 1536, it clearly indicates that Nexus is far better.
Even after using the Gorilla Glass 2 on its screen to avoid scratch Google the touch sensitivity is not compromised. The display and clarity are immaculate that makes the viewing experience a delight. Those who love streaming videos or watching movies on their tables will enjoy it more. Additionally, front mounted stereo speakers enhance the audio experience of a user.
Other things include headphone jack of 3.5mm is located at the left hand side with a micro-USB port. The power and volume buttons are located at far top left corner of the tablet. The right hand side of the tablet has an HDMI port (Micro). Nexus 10 also has a magnetic port for charging.
A placeholder is located in the peel off panel for attaching cover to the device. The cover serves a dual purpose of protecting the device as well as supporting it for easy use along with an additional power switch.

Processor, battery, storage and camera
Powered with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz (Samsung Exynos 5250) it has a 2GB RAM and Android 4.2 OS version. This facilitates in smooth downloads and faster navigation. You can effortlessly carry on with multi-tasking without any performance lag. Browsing is a good experience with Chrome the performance is flawless.
The Nexus is backed with a powerful battery of 9000mAh that allows a 9-hour continuous video streaming and a browsing experience of 7 hours (500 hrs standby). If you are a frequent traveler then you can easily get away with few days of moderate browsing and usage. The storage is the only drawback it seems to have; with 32GB you get 28GB storage space. You cannot expand the memory as the device is not inclusive of SD card slot.
The Nexus 10 includes dual cameras, out of which one is a front-mounted 1.9 MP camera (720P) for capturing decent self-shot images and video chat. The other is a back camera that is powerful 5MP with HD 1080p for recording videos and capturing pictures.
This device is powered with NFC and has the capability of Wi-Fi connect; however, there is still no sign of 3G or 4G capability of the device.
In conclusion, Google Nexus 10 is a treat including performance, battery, camera and software. For those who are looking for a device with an expandable memory may like to prefer some other brand.

One of the major advantages is that Amazon and the Nook is built off of Google's Android operating system. They have modified the user interface which is built on top of the Android operating system to be tailored to the type of user experience that they want for their customers. How Android Changed the Technology Industry

Posted by Unknown Senin, 12 November 2012 0 komentar

Not so long ago the IT industry was diversified to such a degree that the average man in the street could easily pigeon hole most IT companies, e.g. Microsoft was an office software corporation, Apple was a consumer electronics corporation and Google was a web services corporation. However in the past few years leading IT companies have homogenised to such a degree that there are few differentiators and one of the main reasons behind it was the Android operating system from Google.

As recently as 2007 the only products that Google produced were internet based, e.g. a search engine, email and an advertising network but the launch of the iPhone from Apple changed all that. Its phenomenal success persuaded Google to develop the Android operating system which was released in 2008 and ultimately used in 2010 in the Nexus One,a smartphone it made in partnership with HTC.
As the Android was based on open source software, it also had to be open source and that led it being adapted by a plethora of electronic manufacturers which further fuelled the growth of smartphone market and has caused a snowball effect. The popularity of the smartphone led to the development of the tablet and has caused a decline in the sale of PC's. Large IT companies dependent on the PC like Microsoft, Dell and HP have reacted to its decline and all three have developed or are developing smartphones and tablets which have led to the current homogenised state in the IT industry.
Where can the industry go from here, is it the end of IT companies losing their distinctive advantage? Thankfully no. Google which started the trend towards homogenisation has moved on. This month aside from releasing a tablet it developed with Asus called the Nexus 7, it has also released an entertainment hub, the Nexus Q, which streams music and video from its Google Play music store and contains a high-quality amplifier that puts it on a par with the best digital music equipment on the market. This is an interesting development and from my perspective could revolutionise the music entertainment system for the digital age.

New Devices From Google

Posted by Unknown Senin, 05 November 2012 0 komentar
On Monday, October 29, Google released their latest devices, including the new line of Nexus smartphones. One great device released was the larger version of the Nexus 7 that started selling in July. Will you sell iPad for this new tablet computer?
The new line of Nexus smartphones is made by LG Electronics. It has also minor updates from the Android operating system which currently powers up to 500 million devices around the world. Another upgrade is coming next year.
On the other hand, the large Nexus tablet computer is made by Samsung Electronics and it has a display screen of about 10 inches diagonally.
Google released their own larger tablet computer a week after Apple released their smaller tablet computer which is less expensive than the standard iPad. The iPad Mini has a 7.9-inch display and will compete against the Google Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire. This smaller iPad will be released to the public on Friday.
Pundits are still questioning whether or not consumers will want the iPad Mini since $329 is too expensive for a tablet with 16 GB. It seems that the Nexus 7 will still take over the market for smaller tablet computers, since it is available for only $199. The Kindle Fire, however, is cheaper since its starting price is $159.
Meanwhile, the new Nexus 10 tablet computer will sell for $399 if you want the 16 GB of storage. Comparing it to the latest iPad, that's about $100 less but the iPad 2 is still available for $399. This new tablet from Google will be available in their online store on November 13.
The Nexus 4 smartphones have about 4.7-inch screens. This makes them larger than the iPhone 5 and smaller than the Galaxy S III. The 16 GB model Nexus 4 is available for $199. There is also a two-year contract attached to it to buy phone service and Internet access from T-Mobile. For a contract-free phone, you have to pay $299. This phone has 8 GB of storage. The cost goes up to $349 if the model has 16 GB of storage. Isn't this phone cool enough to make you sell your iPad? It seems that in the market of smartphones, the iPhone 5 will have a great competitor to face.
In another field, Microsoft unleashed their own tablet computer called the Surface. This tablet runs on the latest version of the Windows operating system. Windows 8 has been developed to attract users who want their personal computer to be more compatible with their mobile devices.
Microsoft also had a media event in San Francisco last Monday, launching the Windows 8 for smartphones. Google hoped to take away the limelight from Microsoft by releasing their latest smartphones in New York, but, the event was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy.
Now that Google released their brand new phones a week after Microsoft and Apple released theirs, it seems that there will be a great battle coming. Who will be the winner?
