Tablet PCs are compact, ultra-portable entertainment devices that let you read email, surf the Internet, read eBooks, view photos, play games, listen to music and watch video files. Most tablets are based on a smaller operating system, which allows you to purchase and download additional applications from supported stores. Tablet PCs do not have a CD/DVD drive and will not run Microsoft Windows or its applications. Tablet PCs function as a secondary device for casual entertainment purposes and are not meant to replace a computer. They are ideal for use around the home and on the go with Wi-Fi or 3G/4G mobile broadband connections .

What Tablets Are Best For Gaming?

Posted by Unknown Minggu, 20 Januari 2013 0 komentar

All tablets have motion and orientation sensors. While the primary use of these sensors is for auto-rotation of the screen, they are also used by developers in adding fun to their games. This fact along with great graphics handling and social media interaction make tablets one of the most popular gaming devices today.
Do you know which tablets are best for gaming? A gaming tablet should have a good screen, a fast processor and responsive controls. Below are the tablets most people consider when it comes to playing mobile games.

Google Nexus 7
This is probably the cheapest gaming tablet to date. The Google Nexus 7 is only $199 but that didn't stop it from becoming a monster when it comes to Android games. This tablet is powered by NVIDIA'a quad-core Tegra 3 processor and comes with a RAM of 1 GB. Its specification is enough for it to run the best high-definition games on the Google Play Store. Plus, it runs Jelly Bean, the latest version of the Android operating system. This version is optimized to enhance the performance of the tablet.

Besides the processor, the Nexus 7 also has a good screen. Games definitely look good on it. It's seven-inch built is also perfect for those who can't handle larger tablets very well.

ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity
The Transformer Pad Infinity is the fastest Android tablet in the market today. While it has the same processor as the Nexus 7, it is clocked at 1.7 GHz. The Nexus 7 is only clocked at 1.3 GHz making the Transformer Pad Infinity a perennial winner in tablet comparisons.
But that's not the only thing this tablet can offer. Users can connect their PS3 or XBOX 360 controllers on the Infinity which adds to the overall gaming experience. If you are used to playing on a PC, you should know that this slate supports a keyboard dock. Finally, you can connect the tablet to any external display that has an HDMI port.

iPad (2012)
There was a debate on whether the iPad is faster than Tegra 3 tablets like the ones mentioned above. Apple's famous tablet doesn't have a quad-core processor but it has a quad-core graphics chip. This means the iPad can still compete when it comes to gaming. Couple that with its ridiculous Retina display then you have one monster gaming machine.
Another advantage of the iPad is the number of gaming apps it supports. There are more high definition games on the iTunes Store than on the Google Play Store. This should have been OK if there are Android ports of all Android games but this is not so. Good games and superb hardware make the iPad the top gaming tablet.

Why Buy an iPad Mini?

Posted by Unknown Rabu, 16 Januari 2013 0 komentar
It seems that apple will be releasing its scaled down tablet device, the "iPad Mini" in a special event in October.  Who will buy such a device?   To get a better perspective it might be worthwhile to take a look at Google's recently released Nexus 7.
The Nexus 7 has been described as a "game changer"". It has been described as being "far ahead"of existing android tablets with it's high quality hardware and relatively inexpensive price. It is also the only tablet so far to ship with "Jelly Bean", or Android version 4.1. "Jelly Bean" is significant, as it delivers some of the smoothness and usability to Android devices that was believed to be lacking.    Those seeking to purchase an Android tablet should look for this, as apparently it makes a big difference.  In the past Android has lacked the "rock solid" feel of iOs devices.
In the last quarter of 2011, Android tablet shipments reached around 40 percent, with iPad accounting for about 60 percent of the market. Interestingly of the Android tablet sales, 40% of these were Amazon Fire or the Nook, which are popular for reading eBooks.
These devices use the 7 inch form factor and show that there is substantial consumer demand small tablet devices.  It seems obvious that to remain a market later apple must provide something in this form factor.
According to an article in CIO Magazine, Kyle Wiens, founder of iFixit and an iOS developer, says Not only will the iPad mini have a smaller, eye-straining screen, It probably won't have a Retina display, either."
Wiens, though, believes that the iPad mini will be used extensively in the field by technicians, where mobility trumps everything else. Such employees don't have much use for fancy Retina displays.    It does have to be readable in bright sunlight however.
"With service manuals, you need to see pictures to do repairs, which makes the iPad much more usable than the iPhone," Wiens says. "Yet you might be in tight places, so something in between would be reasonable."
In the same article Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi says that a small tablet probably won't have much of an impact on the enterprise. Milanesi covers the tablet market at Gartner and is very familiar with small tablets such as the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7, which she says are too small to get much work done.
She says a 7-inch Apple tablet, along with a cheap price point, will resonate with consumers, which somewhat undermines her anti-enterprise adoption argument. The thinking goes: If an iPad mini is a consumer hit, then it will likely ride BYOD to the enterprise anyway.
According to Steve Jobs, "The reason we [won't] make a 7-inch tablet isn't because we don't want to hit [a cheaper] price point, it's because we think the screen is too small to express the software... "
There are fears that scaled down iPad apps wont work well with the new form factor. This is unlikely, considering the efforts developers already go to support multiple form factors on other platforms.    Already developers manage to produce multi target apps for iPhone and iPad today.  They will do the same for the mini.
For those that believe you can't fit enough text on this screen, keep in mind that this form factor is already the leading size for eReaders.
The future is bright for sub 10 inch form factor. Its affordability and ubitquity in the consumer market will mean it's adoption into everyday life is inevitable. the decision as to whether to get one or not will depend on the size of your pocket!

Once you download it, it will import the details from your Google Calendar account. This app has a lot better UI, and if you need to view and edit information on multiple pages frequently, get this app. It also offers several customizable widgets that make it easy to access and view relevant information fast.

When in comes to combining Android tablet applications development and secure password protection, no one comes close to mSecure Password Manager.

Is Tablet Speed Overrated?

Posted by Unknown Rabu, 09 Januari 2013 0 komentar

The Nexus 10 by Samsung and Google has a speed of 1.7 GHz. As of this writing, this tablet owns the highest figure in this area and yet, its performance does not overwhelm others that have lesser advertised speeds. The iPad, for example, has a speed of 1.4 but it's speed is undeniable. It even beats the Nexus 10 in benchmarks. How did this happen?

Speed Defined
A tablet's speed is its processor's clock speed. Typically, this figure reflects how many calculations it can perform in a given span of time.
Processes inside a tablet always involve computations. This means a tablet with a higher clock speed performs more tasks in a second than one with a lower clock speed.
Imagine filling up a bucket of water. Your task is to fill up the bucket in the shortest time possible. The faster you are, the quicker the task will be finished. Your speed in filling up the bucket of water is similar to a tablet's speed.

How About The Cores?
So how come tablet's with lower speed become as fast as ones with higher speeds? Another factor to be considered is the number of cores. Today's tablets have a maximum number of four cores, the most popular example being the Nexus 7. Most have two cores like the iPad and the Kindle Fire.
Let's go back to our bucket of water analogy. Another way of filling up the bucket in least time possible is buy using more pails simultaneously. The pails here represent the number of cores. At the same speed, a person who was four pails can fill the bucket faster than a person with two pails.

Don't Forget the RAM
RAM which is short for Random Access Memory is also a factor. The most common RAM among tablets today is 1GB. Others have 2GB like the Galaxy Note 10.1.
If the cores are represented by the number of pails in our analogy, RAM is represented by the size of the pails. Obviously, if your pails are bigger, you can fill up the bucket faster.

The System
The last factor to be considered would be the system run by the tablet. There are generally two systems: Android and iOS (or iPad). Continuing with our analogy, the system is represented by the person doing the task. Is the person comfortable with the pail? This question is similar to asking about the system's compatibility with the tablet's hardware. Android for tablets has become more stable than its past versions. However, the problem of "fragmentation" -- optimizing a program for a number of hardware -- still exists. This is not so much of a concern for Apple since there is essentially one "iPad".

Conclusion
A tablet's clock speed is not the only measure of its performance. The number of cores, RAM, and system compatibility should also be considered. Naturally, a tablet having higher figures in each factor should do well but such tablet does not exist for now. The type of tablet you should buy should match your need. If you're looking for a gaming tablet, consider one with a four cores. An ideal tablet for productivity should have a high RAM for handling complex tasks.
Read a lot of materials before buying a tablet and avoid buying one based on hype.

An Android Tablet or iPad Mini

Posted by Unknown Selasa, 08 Januari 2013 0 komentar
Most of the people are keen on buying the iPad. Some are waiting for the launch of the iPad mini. Everyone seems fascinated by the way iPad looks, the display, the features and the technology. nevertheless, fact of the matter is that often the tablets launched by Apple are excessively expensive as compared to Android tablets. So, will it be sensible to invest your hard earned money to Apple tablets while there are tablets by Android that are pocket friendly? Let us find out more about how Android tablets are better buy option than Apple tablets.

iPad Vs Android
Those sleek and trendy iPads are quick to grasp your attention in one glance. There is something about the product that makes it fascinating, that ecosystem software, iOS updates and the display factor. However, some technicalities have been overlooked by the company that resulted in user dissatisfaction with the software.
Maybe this is the reason switching over to a 7 inch Android tab seems much better option.
Another thing that comes to the mind is the price factor of iPad mini that is estimated to be much pricey than the 7 inch tablet by Android. Any product that has been launched by Apple has never been something that is meant for the budget friendly users.

Apple has a new approach that excludes third-party software in its products. This is the very reason why most of the software remain unsupported and the reason why you cannot watch flash enabled videos. Adobe is not included on any Apple device making it difficult for users to find another means.
So why not have a look at the best available top 5 Android tablets that you can get hold of.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7
The best feature about the Samsung Galaxy 7.7 is that of AMOLED display. Even though this is not something that is on par with iPad3 but it is capable of displaying clear and crisp images and content.
Powered with 1.4GHz (dual core) processor it has a storage capacity of 16GB of storage and 1 GB RAM. Initially this product came out with Android 3.2(Honeycomb) but with the latest software update that came out in July brought the change of Android 4.04 (Ice Cream Sandwich) along with 4G support.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has a dual-core 1.2GHz OMAP 4430 CPU and a RAM of 1GB. The internal storage capacity of this tab is that of 8GB. Even after these features, one cannot be sure about the performance of this tab that is relatively slower than the other versions that are high priced. This tab runs on Android 4.04 that makes it comparatively slower in processing. Nevertheless, the thing to notice about this device is that it has a VGA front facing camera for video chat facility. This is indeed disappointing to those who are expecting a 2MP camera.

Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet (2011)
This tablet functions on TI OMAP 4 (dual-core) with 1 GHz processor having a capacity of 8GB. The ram is that of 1GB. The advantage that this tab comes is with expandable memory with micro SD card slot. Additionally it has an OS of Ginger Bread 2.3 Android version.

Amazon Kindle Fire (2012)
We all are familiar with Kindle Fire by Amazon that is priced at $159. The best about this product is that it comes along with many freebies provided by Amazon. But you will have to do with the Silk browser for browsing and if you want to get rid of the advertisements then you need to shell out $15.
This product is powered with a dual-core 1.2GHz OMAP 4430 CPU, 1 GB RAM. The storage capacity of this tablet is that of 16GB. The OS of this tab is an Ice Cream Sandwich. The only drawback it seems to have is lack of camera, expansion slot and volume rocker.

Nexus 7
The Nexus 7 is priced at $199, this is said to be one of the best available tablets in the market. this tab is powered with Tegra 3 CPU quad-core, having a storage space of 8GB. All this sums up to its high speed and immaculate performance. this is something that brings it on par with its rivals in the technology market. It runs on Android 4.1( JellyBean) that makes it the best Android version.
If you are still in anticipation of iPad mini then you need to take a good look at what Android tablets have to offer. The price range, the performance that they have to offer and the advantages that you get by owning an Android are something to look for.

The Best Cheap Tablets

Posted by Unknown Senin, 07 Januari 2013 0 komentar
Most tablets in the market today can be considered luxuries rather than necessities. Case in point: the iPad. This popular tablet would cost you $500! But you don't have to go to extremes just to buy a good slate. There are other alternatives which are way cheaper but are still good. Below are some of the best affordable tablets in the market today.

Galaxy Tab 2 7.7
This tablet from Samsung only costs $250 and yet it offers a lot of good features.

The design of the tablet is good and solid and the display quality is OK. Its speed is decent too which allows it to handle great games from the App Store. If you own a Samsung TV with DLNA, you can also use the Galaxy Tab 2 as a remote.
So what's the catch with this Android tablet? The catch would be the cameras. This slate contains average cameras which are easily outmatched by most smartphones today.
The Galaxy Tab 2 7.7 comes in 8, 16 and 32 GB variants. A microSD card slot is available which allows you to beef up the storage to up to 32 GB.

Kindle Fire HD
Thanks to its manufacturer, the Kindle Fire has become the most popular Android tablet ever. It's the cheapest on this list but definitely not the least. The Kindle Fire HD retains the $199 price tag but with features not found on the original. The new device now supports Dolby Sound and the screen resolution is beefed up. Speaking of screen, there is a 8.9" screen version which only costs $250.
There are reports that some Kindle Fire units lag from time to time. This problem may have been caused by lack of optimization as the software running on it is modified. Another issue with this tablet is the bombardment of advertisements by its creator.

Google Nexus 7
The Nexus 7 is the best cheap tablet today. You can buy one for only $199 and you'll get a tablet with a super fast quad-core processor and a fantastic screen. Despite its price, this tablet does not look cheap. Actually, it looks opposite its price. It is also the first tablet to be released with the latest Android operating system, Jelly Bean.
The manufacturer of this tablet confirms that they are selling at least a million units per month. This is a testament that the Nexus 7 is really that enticing to users.
The tablets above may be cheap but their quality is superb. You don't need to buy those expensive ones anymore. Any of these slates will suffice. Grab one of them right now!

Speed is one of the most important and valued feature of our today's life. Anything that is slow cannot fit into and survive in the fast paced modern lifestyle of this era. Mobile phones are no exception and while buying a new handset, processor speed and the OS of the device play an important role and major deciding factor. Google Nexus S is the first Smartphone to run the fastest version of Android operating system which is popularly known as Gingerbread OS.
It is one of the fastest Smartphones available in the market and comes with a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor and 16GB of internal memory. Google recently launched its new tablet The Nexus 10. It is a 10.1 -inch tablet that is said to be different in relation to its design including factors like processor and battery. The Nexus comes in 16GB ($399) and 32GB ($499) of storage forms. Apart from this let us find out how the Nexus 10 is different and what all it contains.
Design and Form
When it comes to defining the design of Nexus 10 it may seem similar to that of Samsung tab.
The overall design consists of a plastic like finish that makes it look more like a utility product. This is what makes it stand apart from other tablets that are sleeker and have a metal like finishing. Nevertheless, the maximum pricing of this tablet is $499 (32GB) which is comparatively still better than iPad that offers only 16GB at the same cost. Other things like the casing of this tablet is rubber like that makes it easier to grip and cushion the device nicely. Weighing 1.3 lb. the Nexus 10 measures 0.35-inches in thickness; it is light and comparatively sleeker than the one offered by Apple 1.44 lb. (0.37 in). The best feature of Nexus is the striking display (2560-x-1600-pixel) and a 10.1-inch screen with 300PPI, all these features combined together makes it the highest resolution tab available. However, comparing its resolution to iPad with 264ppi and a resolution of 2048 x 1536, it clearly indicates that Nexus is far better.
Even after using the Gorilla Glass 2 on its screen to avoid scratch Google the touch sensitivity is not compromised. The display and clarity are immaculate that makes the viewing experience a delight. Those who love streaming videos or watching movies on their tables will enjoy it more. Additionally, front mounted stereo speakers enhance the audio experience of a user.
Other things include headphone jack of 3.5mm is located at the left hand side with a micro-USB port. The power and volume buttons are located at far top left corner of the tablet. The right hand side of the tablet has an HDMI port (Micro). Nexus 10 also has a magnetic port for charging.
A placeholder is located in the peel off panel for attaching cover to the device. The cover serves a dual purpose of protecting the device as well as supporting it for easy use along with an additional power switch.

Processor, battery, storage and camera
Powered with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz (Samsung Exynos 5250) it has a 2GB RAM and Android 4.2 OS version. This facilitates in smooth downloads and faster navigation. You can effortlessly carry on with multi-tasking without any performance lag. Browsing is a good experience with Chrome the performance is flawless.
The Nexus is backed with a powerful battery of 9000mAh that allows a 9-hour continuous video streaming and a browsing experience of 7 hours (500 hrs standby). If you are a frequent traveler then you can easily get away with few days of moderate browsing and usage. The storage is the only drawback it seems to have; with 32GB you get 28GB storage space. You cannot expand the memory as the device is not inclusive of SD card slot.
The Nexus 10 includes dual cameras, out of which one is a front-mounted 1.9 MP camera (720P) for capturing decent self-shot images and video chat. The other is a back camera that is powerful 5MP with HD 1080p for recording videos and capturing pictures.
This device is powered with NFC and has the capability of Wi-Fi connect; however, there is still no sign of 3G or 4G capability of the device.
In conclusion, Google Nexus 10 is a treat including performance, battery, camera and software. For those who are looking for a device with an expandable memory may like to prefer some other brand.
